Rich in history, culture, entertainment, and natural beauty you’ll see for yourself why the Jewel of the Sierra is such a special place in our hearts and minds.

Please note the following tour features portions that are part of a self-guided itinerary, with a few of the rides to be undertaken independently. You will still be provided with maps, Garmin routes, trailhead pickups and drop-offs, as well as support during the day.

DAY ONE  18-27 miles

Your guides will kickstart the trip with a general overview and introduction to the week ahead this morning in Truckee. You’ll be on bikes in no time to experience a quintessential section of the Tahoe Rim Trail (TRT) - a behemoth of a trail that circles Lake Tahoe in entirety. Ride at a conservative pace today while adjusting to the high-altitude – we’ll climb to over 8400’ above sea level to access Watson Peak. Here, you’ll have unrivaled and unobstructed views of the Tahoe Basin and snow-capped peaks all begging for your attention. Multiple route options exist so you can ride as far as you’d like before our final descent into the small and lively community of Tahoe City. We’ll dip our toes in Big Blue and have a chance to savor kicked-back mountain living before we transfer to our accommodations in Truckee, home for the next two nights.

DAY TWo  15-24 miles

Up and at ‘em! Your guides will be serving up another slice of singletrack pie on today’s epic as we cross state lines and spend the day riding even more incredible sections of the Rim Trail from Tahoe Meadows to Marlette Lake in Nevada. A ride abundant with sweeping panoramic vistas of the Lake, including those iconic visuals you’ve certainly seen photos of from sections of the famed Flume Trail. If there’s a section of trail that’s sure to help cleanse that soul of yours with a little dose of dirt (and scenery) – this is sure to be it. Today’s route concludes with a spine-tingling and grin-inducing descent to Chimney Beach, where we’ll throw on our swimsuits and take a dip in the Lake from the remote beaches of Eastshore. Take a little nap on the warm slabs of granite lining the shores after reviving yourself in the second deepest lake in the US and eleventh deepest in the world. Later, return to Truckee to explore downtown, ride the nearby pump track & bike park, and spend the evening as you see fit.

DAY Three  18-29 miles

Today we check out of our accommodation in Truckee and head to South Lake Tahoe to explore the riding and regional offerings. Stretch out those legs, slap on the sunscreen, and get ready for Mr. Toads Wild Ride! This trail is exactly that – a jaw-clenching and tech-heavy initial descent followed by fast, banked, flowy singletrack that you won’t be able to ride without giving out a few hoots and hollers. Wrap up your day  exploring the Strip (and casinos) of South Lake or settle in beachside to work on that tan before we reconvene for another dinner together. Accommodations the next two evenings will be in South Lake.

DAY FOUR  16 - 25 miles

The fourth day always hurts a little as the riding of the days past slowly starts to catch up. We’ll take the morning as it comes, giving you time to enjoy some stretching and bodywork at an optional yoga class. We’ll tackle another great segment of the Rim Trail from Kingsbury Grade to Spooner Summit – a route that you can elect to ride as a point to point or as an epic full-day out and back. Some honest climbs and technical stair-stepped granite descents will seem a little bit easier this afternoon after having honed those skills of yours over the previous days. Genoa Peak marks the high point of today’s ride, with breathtaking lookouts to the West Shore of Tahoe distracting you from the arduous effort that it took to get here. Back in South Lake, descend the Van Sickle Trail to conclude the day and take a load off before we gather this evening for tonight’s farewell dinner.

DAY Five  16 - 20 miles

Today marks the conclusion of the tour, but not without a final ride that is sure to serve as the dessert course for your week-long fat tire feast in the Sierra. An early transfer to a trailhead on the outskirts of Truckee near historic Donner Summit will set us up for a nice outing on the Hole in the Ground trail. A mild loop that features a balanced mix of singletrack & granite, some steady climbs and descents, and a few choose-your-own-adventure stretches that suit the preferences of all abilities. We’ll make our way to Reno at the conclusion of today’s ride, where your guides will bid you farewell and you can continue your vacation as you see fit.
