COVID PROTOCOLS & POLICIES

In order to ensure the health and safety of our guests, staff and vendors we have specific COVID-19 policies in place. The pandemic is changing how we operate and we have had to adapt, like all businesses and individuals during these challenging times. We look forward to welcoming you on an upcoming tour, clinic or shuttle - with the peace of mind that your well-being is our top priority.

Day Tours & Clinics:

We have returned to offering operating guided day tours for public, private groups and solo riders. For mixed groups (public), we ask that masks still be worn at all times while in our vehicles while transporting to various trailheads. No vaccination or proof of vaccination is required.

Multi-Day Tours:

For the health and safety of all our clients and staff, we now require all those on our trips to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. This precaution is required, given the physical nature of the activities and the close proximity we have to each other while on tour. Cycling is a sport where it’s almost impossible to social distance. Also, we love to socialize and eat together as a group as much as we possibly can. We understand that a vaccination doesn’t necessarily stop the spread of the virus. However, vaccinations are seen to limit the severity of the virus and its spread

Frequent sanitation and mask wearing while in enclosed public environments (such as restaurants) will continue to serve as cornerstones of our operational success and viability.

SCREENING: We require that all guest joining a multi-day tour provide proof of vaccination prior to depature. More details sent with pre-trip packet after making your booking and paying a deposit. Upon arrival to our tours, a pre-trip health screening will be given and you will need to complete a risk release form.

TRAVEL: You may need to fly to join us and encourage you to take maximum precautions while in transit to your bike tour with Dirt Gypsy. We'd recommend frequent hand washing & sanitizing during your travels, trying to space out from others on the place when possible and double-masking while in the plane and at airports (with the inner-layer being an N95).

TOUR TRANSPORTATION: We will continue to offer transportation to our tour guests at the start and end of the trip as well as while on-tour. Masking and spacing out in the van when possible will be encouraged at all times.

DINING: Every attempt will be made to offer meals al fresco, meaning we'll be dining outdoors at restaurants by default. As a result, you're encouraged to add a few warm casual layers to your suitcase knowing that a chilly, social meal is a better alternative to eating room service by yourself.

APRÉS & SOCIAL SITUATIONAL AWARENESS: This part is the hardest for us, hands down. Meaning, keep those hands down. We're asking for everyone to try their hardest to refrain from hand shaking, high fives, fist bumps and hugs. Dang, how we miss hugs! While we will certainly be collecting outdoors and enjoying post-ride beverages, recounting tales of the trails and of the day, it's in everyone's best interest to raincheck the physical contact until their next tour with us in 2022.

GUEST RESPONSIBILITY: Part of our permitting process to do what we do is to have a detailed COVID operational plan for staff and guests alike. As a result, below is what's required of you if you when you're on tour with us.

It is your responsibility to abide by the following guidelines. This information will be provided in confirmation emails & will be reviewed at the start of every tour.

  • If you are sick, please stay at home.

  • All participants must arrive with both vaccinations received at least 14 days prior to trip start. Masks or bandana-style buffs are mandatory and will be used when deemed necessary. Construction of the mask must have two-layers at a minimum.

  • We ask you to check your temperature before coming to your tour and ask that you stay at home and away from others if you have any of the following: a temperature of 100.4⁰F or higher, a cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fever, chills, repeated shaking with chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, new loss of taste or smell, or other signs of new illness unrelated to a preexisting condition (such as seasonal allergies).

  • If you have a suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19, refer to Public Health’s Guidance on seeking medical attention.

  • Dirt Gypsy Adventures will continue to supply bikes and helmets to travelers and clients who do not have their own. These items are thoroughly cleaned and disinfected according to CDC guidelines between every single use. We take this process seriously and spend considerable time sanitizing bikes, helmets, our van, and all common surfaces. Guests are welcome to provide their own equipment or transportation if they have uncertainties about our processes.

Shuttles:

  • We will limit van capacity to 8 passengers (9 including driver) at any given time.

  • Driver will take a temperature reading of each passenger at the time of loading.

  • Passengers are required to space themselves out as much as possible. We will make every attempt to keep vehicle windows open to promote airflow and circulation when passengers are inside.

  • Van components that are touched regularly will be thoroughly sanitized before shuttles, after shuttles and at the end of each day. These include door handles, windows, seat backs, seat belts, head rests, steering wheels, stereo and instrument panel.

  • PPE: Passengers and drivers alike will be required to wear masks at all times while inside the vehicle. Masks will be available for those not providing their own.

  • Passenger Screening: Before departure and before anyone enters the van, our driver will screen passengers with the following:

    • Do you have a temperature of 100.4⁰F or higher

    • Are you experiencing or have you experienced any of the following symptoms in the last 14 days: a cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fever, chills, repeated shaking with chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, new loss of taste or smell, or other signs of new illness unrelated to a preexisting condition (such as seasonal allergies)?

Rentals:

While the CDC indicates that COVID-19 spreads less commonly through contact with contaminated surfaces, we will continue to wash, disinfect and clean each and every rental bike between uses.

COVID CANCELLATION POLICY

Let's make this as painless as possible. You want to travel, we want to travel, but let's face it - there's a considerable amount of uncertainty still in the air. As a result, we understand that the road ahead is likely to be bumpy and we'll all have our own obstacles to navigate in returning to active travel and bike vacations. Dirt Gypsy Adventures has modified our cancellation policy to be more relaxed. The bottom line is that you can book with confidence and get your cash back (up to 60 days before departure) if needed. Our multi-day tours are the only offerings that are subject to their own COVID cancellation policy. Our day tours, bike rentals and shuttles are subject to the normal cancellation terms, which can be found on the respective pages.
